Location
The 2023 IPBA Conference takes place at Lund University’s dynamic campus in Helsingborg, Sweden. The campus in Helsingborg houses two social science research environments with a strong interest in different aspects of the communication, branding, and making of places.
The first research environment is located in the Department of Strategic Communication, which is the chair of the Conference. The department has around 350 students and 25 employees, making it one of the largest units in Europe dedicated to strategic communication. Strategic communication is based on internationally established research within public relations, organisational communication and marketing communication. It deals with the deliberate communication initiatives of organisations to achieve their goals, Research at the department contributes to the understanding and critical review of communication processes which govern and shape public and private organisations, such as place branding, crisis communication, and public diplomacy.
The second research environment is located at the Department of Service Studies, which is co-organising the Conference. The interdisciplinary department offers internationally competitive and high-quality research and education in service studies with a cutting-edge competence in retail, health, logistics, supply chain management, sustainability, culture and creativity, tourism and hotels. The department’s teachers, professors, and doctoral students contribute with research expertise from more than ten subject disciplines.
